A UNBC instructor has a wealth of information that will add to our knowledge of Northern B.C.

A book on the history of Cassiar, titled "Cassiar: A Jewel in the Wilderness" has been written by Dr. Suzanne LeBlanc. The book tells the story of Cassiar through the stories of many of the former Cassiar residents as well as the thousands of Cassiar documents from the former company and town archived at University of Northern B.C. Many Cassiarites that visit this website have contributed to the book.

The book has been selling so well that shortly after its release it was ranked in 3rd place on the top-seller list in British Columbia (www.books.bc.ca) and had also made it to a national book seller manager's top-seller list. The first run of 1,000 copies has already sold out and the second run has been printed and most of that has been sold too. There are no plans for another run so the book will soon be a collector's item.

Point of interest: Book orders made directly at Caitlin Press, instead of retail outlets, are not factored in for the book's ranking on best seller lists. So if your orders were being placed at retail stores instead of at Caitlin Press we can only speculate what ranking on the best seller list the book might have - #1 probably.

The University of Northern British Columbia (website: http://www.unbc.ca )and Books and Company, both located in Prince George, BC, have both purchased largish quantities so likely have some copies available as well.
