Kamlah, Gerry, passed February 2, 2016, just hours short of his 82nd birthday. Gerry lived in the Cassiar area from 1957. He drove manhaul and ran the bar and then Surface Dept. Superintendent 1964-1972). He ran the Pacific 66 auto service station. Then worked in the liquor store. He lived his remaining years at his cabin at Pinetree Lake on the Cassiar-Stewart Highway. Predecased by his wife Lil Kamlah and is survived by their three children, Gord, Barb, Lori and families.  
Kamlah, Lillian "Lil", age 83 passed away suddenly at home, on the night of July 30, 2010 in Cranbrook, BC, mostly likely from a stroke. Lil lived in Cassiar 1958 and then 1962-1992. She was a nurse in Cassiar Hospital and was married to Gerry Kamlah. Lil leaves to mourn her son Gord and daughters Barb and Lori and their families.  
Kaplicky, Jan. Died of cancer in Whitehorse, YT on November 4, 1997. Jan's girlfriend Muriel Havard was in his hospital room when Jan slipped away and she reports seeing an eerie light leave his body and float around the room. Believing it to be his soul she opened the window and the light went out the window and vanished in the sky.
Kartio, Alma, died of heart attack in the late 1960s. Wife of Larry Kartio  
Kartio, Larry  died in 2000 of emphysema. Husband of Alma  
Kensler, Werner - mid 60's - owned a mink farm in southern BC and drowned when boat capsized while catching fish for mink. Husband of Lena Kensler  
Kerwan, Dick. Garage Superintendent. Died in car accident in South Africa, approximately 1963  
Kipness, Norman, at 89 passed peacefully October 22nd, 2011 in Kamloops BC Norman leaves to mourn his wife Pamela (née Linder); daughter Wendy (Nick Sargent); sons: Evan (Michele Newhook) and Christopher (Kit) (Dana Hornibrook); grandchildren: Aiden, Chloe and Timo Sargent, Zev and Gabe Kipnis, Jonah and Bryn Kipnis.A WWII veteran with the B. C. Royal 28th Canadian Armoured Regiment, Norman became a professional mining engineer after the War. After working in Northern Ontario and Mexico, Norman retired from the Newfoundland Department of Mines and Energy in 1987. Norman was an avid sailor and a long time member of the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club.
The Kipnis family lived in Cassiar in the late 1960s.
Klawitter, John, at age 53 died of cancer on July 20th, 2000 in Houston, BC. John leaves to morn wife Lynda Klawitter, son Eric Klawitter and daughter Joni Klawitter (Bold). The family lived in Cassiar 1990-1992 and he worked in the mine.

Knowles, Donna Reti passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the age of 52 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 25 years, Doug; children, Deneen Reti, of Wetaskiwin, AB, Devin Reti, of Calgary, AB, and David Frost of Old Crow, YT; granddaughter Eleanor; sister Ellen Knowles of Prince George, BC; brother Richard Knowles of Clearwater, BC; and many more family and friends. Donna was born in North Surrey, BC and raised in Cassiar, BC. After college she moved to Whitehorse where she met and married the love of her life, Douglas Reti. Doug worked for the RCMP and so the family lived in 14 different places through their life and eventually made Calgary their home. Donna was very active and loved sports. She played basketball, volleyball, baseball and hockey, but her true love was her family.

Kollar, James D., age 40, died of heart failure in Fort St. John, BC on May 17, 2009.  Jim's family lived and worked at Erickson gold mine.  He attended Cassiar Secondary School from grade 9 on. He always considered Cassiar his home town & returned to the area as often as one can these days to go fishing & hunting.  He always loved the outdoors that Cassiar offered. Jim leaves to mourn: Mother & Father (Frank & Carol); Brother (Kurt); Sister-In-Law (Mimi); Nephew (Christopher); Girlfriend (Karen); loving friend & companion (Nakita & Bruce).  
Kovacs, Barney, aged 69 passed away January 27, 2005 after a long illness. He leaves to mourn his wife Margaret and son Sandy John. They lived in Cassiar 1968-1973. He was Mine Superintendent, Production Superintendent and then President 1994-2000. Margaret was school teacher.  
Krebs, Fritz (Fred)  
Krebs, Gabbi (daughter of Fritz & Hilde). Drowned in swimming pool in Alberta OR drowned in a river in Fort MacMurray while trying to rescue her own child who survived.

Kuchinski,  Stanley (Stan) passed November 1, 2012 Smithers, BC at the age of 88 after a year long battle with cancer. Born in Polesi, Poland Dec. 20, 1924.  He passed away after a courageous battle with stomach cancer with his friends Ciril and Johanna (Habjan)at this bed side, predeceased by his only sister Alexandra in Poland on Oct. 2, 2012.
At a young age his was uprooted by Russians from Poland to Siberia, from there he was conscripted to join the Allies serving in the Middle East, Africa and Italy during the way years. In 1946, he immigrated to Canada and was working forests and farms on the prairies and ended up in B.C. and the Yukon, where he started to work in the Asbestos mines at Cassiar, B.C. and Clinton Creek, Yukon as supervisor and General Foreman from May of 1953 until his retirement in September of 1982 in Smithers. Stan was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, boating, skidooing and most of all gardening and flowers were his passion. In his retirement he enjoyed reading by the fireplace and watching the birds outside his window and enjoying all sports of TV.
