"Mc/Mac"

MacLeod, Bertha, 87, passed away March 5, 2007 in Whitehorse, YT of complications of diabetes. "Bert"  was pre-deceased by her husband Mac in 1978. In 1966 Bert joined Mac in Cassiar and worked as a custodian at the Cassiar School. They moved to Whitehorse upon Mac's retirement in 1977. Bert leaves to mourn daughter Pauline and son Douglas (Gemma); grandchildren
Darin (Madeleine) & Karin (Richard) and great-grandchildren Bevan, Dahlin & Rylin
 
MacLeod, Douglas, passed away December 25, 2011, in Whitehorse, YT, of Pneumonia at 64. Doug lived in Cassiar from 1966 to 1979. He worked in the store, cafeteria and mill. He leaves to mourn: his sister, Pauline; Niece, Karin and nephew, Darin. Grand-nephews Bevan and Dahlin.  
MacLeod, Malcolm "Mac" died in Whitehorse, YT on July 4, 1978 of cancer at age 65. Mac was a Cassiar resident from 1962 to February 1978 and is survived by Bertha (wife), Pauline (daughter)and Douglas (son).  
Mac Slaine, Rhoda. Rhoda passed away on March 22nd, 2016 in Penticton, BC.  She married Bill Slaine in the 50ís and they moved to Cassiar where Bill worked for the Company and Rhoda worked for the Royal Bank. Manager Jack Nicholson (who shared this news) when it was a two-person branch met Rhoda when he was transferred by the Bank to Cassiar in 1958.  She was an exceptional lady and was well and favourably known by the residence of Cassiar.  They later moved to Penticton where Bill passed away approximately five years prior and had no children.  
McAndrew, Art, died May 23, 1973 of Multiple Myeloma in Comox, BC. Art was School Principal and Teacher, Townsite Administrator & Justice of the Peace
McAndrew, Kathleen died May 19, 1999, in Victoria, BC at age 47 while waiting for second heart transplant. She was the first person to receive a heart transplant in Western Canada. Daughter of Art & Margaret McAndrew. Survived by daughters Elisabeth and Megan.  
McAndrew, Margaret, passed away on April 9, 2006 in Whitehorse, YT at 84 of old age. She passed away in her sleep with loved ones at her side. She was pre-deceased by husband Art (school teacher and principal in Cassiar) and daughter Kathleen. Margaret is survived by daughter Heather (Denis) and 5 grandchildren Rhonda (Mike), Tamara (Tim), Tiffaney, Elisabeth (Warren) and Megan and 4 great grandchildren.  
McCall, Dr. Ian. Cassiar's second doctor.  
McCall, Ian Matthew, infant son of Dr. Ian & Meg McCall died March 22, 1955 in a fire when Cassiar's first hospital burned down.  
McCall, Meg. passed away Sept. 10, 1997 in Vancouver, BC at age 67 of cancer. Wife of Dr. Ian McCall. Survived by Sam, Hugh & Lael: grandsons Ian, Cameron & Robert  
McCauley, Bob, passed away September 15, 2002 in Kamloops BC at age 63. Bob was a truck driver in Cassiar's mine from 1977-1986. Bob is survived by wife Marilyn who worked in the office, and their children Cindy and Rob. Bob and family attended the Cassiar Reunion July 2002. bob_mccauley.jpg (31881 bytes)

McCauley, Marilyn (nee Weaver) passed August 28, 2010 at the Kamloops Hospice, Kamloops, BC. Left to mourn, her daughter Cindy (Kevin), grandchildren, Taryn and Spencer. Son Rob (Christine), grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jacob, and Reid. Sister Colleen (Fred). Predeceased by her husband Bob in Sept, 2002.  
McManus, Patrick, at 84 years passed away April 20, 2000 of old age in Newry, Co Down, Northern Ireland.  Pat worked for the Cassiar Asbestos Corporation from August 5 1964 to the August 26 1970, as a mill labourer. From June 30 1971 to December 17 1971 he worked a Dryer Helper. He is survived by several siblings, his daughter Katrina and grandson Gavin McCormack.  
McGill, Teri Janette, born March 1st 1972, passed away on January 9th 2002 at the Princess Margeret Hospital in Toronto, ON with her family by her side. Teri is survived by her parents Jim and Linda McGill, all 14 of her brothers and sisters; Paul, Dawn, Dennis, Sandi, Stan, Jennifer, Jacki, Bill, Michele, Kelly, Michael, Anthony, Darlene, and MaryAnn; and her two children Cory and Robyn. Teri's funeral services were held in Grand Forks, BC on January 14th 2002. The McGill family moved to Cassiar in 1987 and was one of the last families to leave the town in 1992 when the mine closed.  
McGuinness, Margretta, lost her long battle with breast cancer November 27, 2011 Margretta & Jim and their children Peter, Damian, & Sinead lived in Cassiar 1978-1989. Margretta worked in the retail store. Jim was Lead Hand Mechanic on the shovel and drill crew in the Mine Garage.  
McKenzie, Carol (daughter of Rupert & Marg) passed away on August 22, 1999 in Kamloops B.C. from bone cancer . The cancer was detected at the university of Singapore shortly after Carol had been checked over in Kamloops and given a clean bill of health . Carol & husband Len Skakun were living in Indonesia at the time where he was working for the American mining company Freeport McMoran on the Grasberg project. Carol leaves to mourn husband Len, children Lisa and Mike.

McKiernan, Charlie - heart failure (broken heart) exactly one year after his wife,Teresa - shovel operator  
McKiernan, Teresa - cancer of the colon - mid 90's - wife of Charlie McKiernan - cookery and Mill Lab Tech  
McPhail, William "Kelly", aged 78 passed away May 29, 2005. He fell and broke his other hip but his lungs were not strong enough for surgery. Despite complete bed his lungs grew weaker until they finally quit working. Kelly's request to not be put on life support was honoured so he passed away peacefully with his wife Grace at his side. Kelly lived in Cassiar 1980-1986 where he worked as Preventive maintenance Co-ordinator, both in mine garage and service garage.  
McPhee, Raymond, ex-Cassiarite, originally form Telegraph Creek died February 7, 2003, in Fort St. John, BC at age 75. He has a brother Billy McPhee and was married to Vera McPhee.
