|Veltmeyer, Cora. Born in Cassiar in 1967, died in 1993 in North Vancouver of cancer. Survived by parents Hans & Jetty.|
| Veltmeyer, Hans.
On December 26, 2005 Hans Veltmeyer died after a lengthy illness at the age
of 73. He was born, raised and educated in The Netherlands. In 1993 he was
predeceased by his beloved daughter Cora.
Hans is survived by his wife Jetty, his sons Andy (Lennette) of Fernie and
Paul (Leslie) of Terrace, his 5 grandchildren: Chris, Mike, Sean, Millika
and Joshua, as well as his family in Holland.
Hans came to Canada in 1960. He worked till 1966 in Ontario, after which he and Jetty moved to BC, where he worked as a mechanical/electrical engineer in the mining industry. The Veltmeyer family was in Cassiar 1966-1973. Hans joined Cassiar Asbestos Corp.. as Maint. Engineer & worked as Plant Supt. till Sept. 1973. Was Scout Cubmaster, minister's warden/treasurer in Community Church, Member Lion's Club, local asst. to BC Fire Marshall (Cassiar District), Cassiar Director for Community Club.
|Veltmeyer, Paul, 51 years old, died unexpectedly in Coquitlam on December 3, 2015. He lived from 1966 – 1973 in Cassiar. Pre-deceased by his father Hans and sister Cora. He is survived by his son Sean, daughter Millika, second wife Susanna, stepson Tony, mother Jetty, and brother Andy.|
|Velton, Freddy. Passed away in the late 1990s in Dease Lake, BC when in his 50s. Freddy was a long time resident of Cassiar who schooled there in the 1960s and then worked there until the late 1980s, Survived by a daughter and son, sister Molly and Vincine Dennis and nieces and nephews.|
|Venzi, Marlene Elizabeth Ellen. Marlene aged 58, died April 17, 1999 in Victoria, BC of Leukemia. Marlene lived in Cassiar from 1967 to 1975 with husband Fred Venzi and their children Donald, Lisa & Julie( the last being born in Cassiar in 1968). Marlene worked in the Cassiar Post Office. She is survived by ex-husband Fred Venzi, son Donald, daughters Lisa and Julie and grandson Mathew Hagen.|
|Voss, Hildegard "Hilde", died in March 2002 at age 79 of Parkinson's Disease in Parksville, BC. She is survived by her husband Karl, also of Parksville and children Renate Ruehl (Tommy), Peter (Joanne), Jutta and Margaret. Predeceased by son Ralph. Hilde was Cassiar's Postmaster for many years.|
| Karl (Opa) passed away peacefully in his sleep
on Dec. 20, 2014 in Smithers, BC; at the age of 92 years.
Karl & family lived in Cassiar 1954-1983, arriving when he was 32 years old. He was a Heavy-Duty mechanic, a Tireman, and also worked in the Toolcrib. Karl lost his right eye in a work accident in the Cassiar Equipment garage. Hildegard worked in the Snack Bar and then in the Post Office for many years until they left for Parksville on Vancouver Island in 1983.
Karl was survived by son Peter (Joanne) Voss of Smithers, daughters Renate (Guenter) Ruehl, of Squamish, Jutta (Dale) Hobenshield of New Hazelton, Margaret (Hans) Buenten of Telkwa; grandchildren Marie, Steve; Pauline, William, Otto; Lauren, Keltje; Katie, Elsa, Emily; great grandchildren, Jessica, Hayden, Brett, Erika, Ryker; Jesse; Emily, Marcus. He was predeceased by his son Ralf (1987), and his wife, Hildegard (2002). Karl was married in Germany to Peter and Renate’s mother who died young and he married Hildegard in Canada.
|Voss, Peter, passed away peacefully in his sleep April 6, 2015. He was diagnosed with cancer October 2014. Peter came to Cassiar as a child in the mid 1950s with has father Karl and step-mother Hilde. Peter was born in Banteln, Germany on May 16, 1946. Peter leaves behind his devoted and loving family: wife Joanne, daughter Marie (Lance) Bereck, grandchildren Jessica, Hayden, Erika and Brett; son Steven (Nadine) and grandson Ryker. Peter is sadly missed by his sisters Renate Ruehl of Squamish, Jutta Hobenshield of Hazelton, Margaret Buenten of Telkwa, their respective families, as well as many nieces and nephews, and their families. Peter also leaves behind his work family of colleagues and friends. Peter is predeceased by his mother Gerda, brother Ralf, step-mother Hilde and father Karl.|
