Safety Award Presented To Cassiar, 1983

Mr. Lorne Silerton, Asst. Deputy Minister, Mineral Resources Division, Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, presented the "B" Trophy to Peter Jones, Mine Manager, Jeff Laurie, Mine Garage Shift Foreman and Paul "Screwy" Brohman, Union Safety Committee Chairman, at a banquet in the Hotel Vancouver on April 6th 1983. The award recognized Jeff and crew as being safest mine maintenance crew in the province. Way to go guys!

Jeff recalls "I remember it so well  because with the reduction in CP Air's schedule in and out of Watson Lake we  had to leave Cassiar on a Monday morning and couldn't get home again until Friday ...  all that time for a 3 hour dinner at the Hotel Vancouver on the Wed. night. Paul and I had a ball staying at the Harbourside Holiday Inn,  18 floors up and overlooking the float planes and ferries coming and going."
